Do you fondue?

After all the talking about cooking I’ve done lately, I haven’t really gotten to talk about dessert. You’ve got your cakes, pies, ice cream, gelato, cannoli; anything sweet to balance out the salty main course. Usually I’ll buy these desserts, or if I am feeling particularly ambitious, I will produce them myself. Lately I’ve been experimenting with variations on the dessert selection, and that has led me to fondue.

Fondue is a recent discovery for me, the first time I tried it was in 2006. It was a delicious chocolate fondue with all kinds of tasty dippings. Since then, I’ve always been interested in seeing what other fondue options were available. Chocolate fondue makes for a great dessert, while cheese fondue can stand on its own. Being a big fan of cheese (especially the melted kind), I lean more towards cheese fondues. Wine, my get-together dinner drink of choice, is the perfect partner to the dish.

Any bagged product anywhere, after it is opened, suddenly becomes a problem to keep sealed. In my house we used to use rubber bands, or really complex folding techniques which only served to complicate opening the item again later. Not to mention freshness would become an issue a lot faster than we preferred, and pouring out items with little chunky pieces (like cereal, for example) was always messy.

Many methods were sought to solve this problem, but we were forced to continue in our old ways.

Most places that tourists go to—no matter where it is in the world—will offer some form of plastic keychain in a variety of designs, such as these:

keychainThis particular design is offered by Wenzhou Long Xin Printing Co. and is completely customizable. The interior paper can have any color, picture, or design printed on it (the design shown in the picture is just an example). The means that you can put any design in there that you see fit to best advertise your business, the name of a product, or as a tourist souvenir of a visited location.

Actually, there is no reason why these should just be limited as a souvenir to tourists. Many businesses miss out on this as a viable way of marketing. They can be used as a cheap promotional tool in a variety of situations.

Summertime, for me, always starts with Memorial Day weekend. Once that comes, I know it is time for summer. The sights, sounds, and especially, the smells all come back to me, no matter where I am in the world. Growing up near the ocean, Memorial Day marked the first weekend of summer, and the opening of the beaches near my home. Tourist season always became synonymous with summer. And, of course, when I think summer, I think barbeque!

Summer provides great weather that makes sitting outside and grilling even more relaxing—and a great opportunity to cook up delicious food for friends and family. Of course, I will seize any opportunity available for me to cook, especially outdoors. Now the task of finding the proper grilling equipment. You can find faux grilling aficionados everywhere trying to sell you on the best equipment to use. When it comes down to it, though, you have to go with what you like the best and what is the most useful for you.

Windows 7 has brought with it a lot of changes—many internal, a lot external. The biggest change is in touch-screen optimization. Windows 7 is becoming one of the easiest operating systems to use in a touch screen environment.
As touch screens are becoming more prominent in our daily use, the need to interact with them easier has certainly arisen.  They make for easier business and university presentations, and give us much more personal interaction with our computers. Unfortunately, a lot of the times it can be very tiring to constantly have to use our hands to touch the screen and interact.

Sitwell Industries has come out with a solution to this problem: a stylus-LED light combined pen. It connects easily to any computer through USB, which also provides its power source as well! No batteries are needed, saving you money and the risk of suddenly running out of power during a presentation. While acting as a stylus, its blue LED light is a unique feature:sitwellstylusYou can highlight important parts of your presentation, while also seeing what you’re doing when it is dark. It is also useful if you’re the one sitting in on a presentation as well. You can take notes much more easily with the LED light, keeping your backlit screen on its lowest setting (also conserving battery power).
